MS Dhoni’s Untold Story: When MSD Confused the Chef With a Simple Request

MS Dhoni, a former captain of India and a mainstay of the Chennai Super Kings, is well known for his love of cuisine. Dhoni’s love of eating hasn’t diminished despite his need to stay in shape and all of his outstanding on-field accomplishments. Following CSK’s IPL 2023 triumph, legendary chef Suresh Pillai shared a never-before-told Dhoni story from when he was still representing India.

Chef Pillai sent a long message on social media congratulating CSK and ‘Thala’ Dhoni for winning the fifth IPL championship and sharing a fascinating story about the former Indian captain’s trip to Kerala for the Indian team’s match against the West Indies in Trivandrum in 2018.

The Indian team was staying at the hotel where Chef Pillai worked. He remembered that the most of the players had chosen fish for supper, and when it was Dhoni’s time to eat, he gave the cook a confounding request.

The event happened inside Dhoni’s hotel room when the 41-year-old renowned wicketkeeper batter questioned Chef Pillai about what they had prepared for supper. The latter told him about the variety of seafood alternatives, but as luck would have it, Dhoni is allergic to shellfish.

Chef, I can’t eat fish. It’s an allergy. Can I please have some rice and chicken curry? Since I have a sore throat, I would also like some spicy rasam, Dhoni said.

Chef Pillai, a devoted supporter of the CSK captain, was able to prepare the specialties requested in only 20 minutes and bring them to Dhoni in his hotel room. He prepared Rasam, Roasted Pappadam, Basmati Rice, and Chettinad Chicken.

Chef Pillai said that ‘Thala’ informed him that he enjoyed the supper the next morning as he was heading to the gym, and the former was thrilled to be able to feed his ‘hero’ for four days.

The renowned CSK skipper recently had surgery on his left knee in Mumbai, and he is now recuperating. He had previously assured his supporters that he will participate in the next IPL season.
