Hugging Rohit Sharma after a catch in the Asia Cup match between India and Sri Lanka is pure gold. Virat Kohli

Tuesday saw Sri Lanka put up a strong fight, but India held their own in the end to win the Super 4 match and secure a place in the championship game. Although the batting may not have been up to par, both the bowling and Rohit Sharma’s leadership were put to the test. Things became challenging for India when Dhanajaya De Silva and Dunith Wellalage fought back, but ultimately it was the caliber of the Indian bowling attack that triumphed.

While there were many game-changing moments that went viral on social media, fans are now adoring Virat Kohli’s embrace with skipper Rohit. Here is the video of Kohli sprinting over to Rohit to give him a hug after the Indian skipper made a successful catch at slip.

India chose to bat, and they achieved a below-par 213 runs, but their bowlers put in an outstanding collective effort to lead their side to a 41-run victory and into the continental tournament’s championship game.

After captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat, the spin combo of Dunith Wellalage (5/40) and Charith Asalanka (4/18) wrecked havoc in the middle overs to bowl out India for 49.1 runs. India’s highest scorer was Rohit (53).

“The game was excellent. For us to also participate in such a stressful game. Many facets of our game were put to the test,” Rohit stated at the post-game awards ceremony.
