Rahul Dravid’s Open Statement Regarding The T20 World Cup Squad: “Unfortunately, We Won’t…”

After India defeated Afghanistan 3-0 in the series, head coach Rahul Dravid was happy with his team’s performance since it gave them other alternatives for the T20 World Cup in June. After the ODI World Cup, India played 11 Twenty20 matches, and with frontline players rested, the think tank was able to examine some of the candidates more closely, including Jitesh Sharma and Shivam Dube. Dravid was really pleased with their work.

After the most recent ODI World Cup, we had a change of players for a number of reasons. However, I believe it’s good to see that certain candidates have raised their hands and shown their ability to handle the situation (before to the World Cup).

In his news conference after the game, Dravid said, “We were thinking about it, and there are some areas we might need some addressing in.”

Dravid’s major worry was not having enough team time before the USA and the West Indies hosted the grand finale.

Before the World Cup, India’s last Twenty20 encounter was a three-match series against Afghanistan, which they won 3-0.

Sadly, as a team we actually won’t be playing much cricket anymore. Naturally, everyone will be keenly monitoring the Indian Premier League to see how some of those men perform and to determine which places we need to fill on the squad,” he added.

With 124 runs and two wickets in the series against Afghanistan, Dube won player of the series, and Dravid was happy to have an all-rounder to choose from.

He has returned after an extended absence. He’s definitely become a lot better player since returning. He has always had potential, no question about it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well he did in the series.

“I’m sure that will boost his confidence even more because when you return and dominate a series, you establish yourself as the series’ guy. It’s fantastic and he has raised his hand for sure. Like he did last year, he will have the chance to prove himself in the IPL once again, Dravid said.

The position of the wicketkeeper will also be scrutinized since India now has many options in Jitesh, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, who is still recovering from an injury.

The former captain of India did not rule anybody out of the running.

There are a lot of keeping alternatives available. This game included a few men who we saw. We have Sanju, Kishan, Rishabh, and a bunch of other people.

“We’ll just have to wait and see how things work out over the next few months before deciding on the best course of action.”

In the second Super Over against Afghanistan on Wednesday night, skipper Rohit Sharma’s choice to send the ball to leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi pleased the 51-year-old Bengaluru man as well.

Bishnoi defended 11 runs well, bowling out Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammed Nabi in consecutive deliveries.

“Rohit followed his instinct and sided with Bishnoi. I believe he believed a spinner had a higher probability of claiming two wickets. With their power, they probably would have scored 12 runs if they had batted six balls.

But when Bishnoi bowled two superballs, I felt he was very smart. He drew back the length. It would have gone for six if the length had been a little bit longer. Dravid said, “I thought Rohit made a very wise instinctive decision to go for the wickets and be more aggressive rather than going for a safer alternative.
