Ranji Trophy bowler Kulwant Khejroliya makes history by being the third bowler to grab four wickets in four deliveries

On Monday, February 12, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, left-arm bowler Kulwant Khejroliya went wild with the ball on the last day of his team’s sixth Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Baroda. MP triumphed by an innings and 34 runs thanks to a mind-boggling session of 5/34 from former Delhi bowler Khejroliya, who made history. Khejroliya claimed four wickets in as many deliveries to cap up his fifer, which included a hat-trick, after he went wicketless in his first 11 overs.

Following MP’s insistence that the visitors follow on, Khejroliya claimed the wickets of Shashwat Rawat, Mahesh Pithiya, Bhargav Bhatt, and Akash Singh on the second, third, fourth, and fifth deliveries of the 95th over of Baroda’s second innings. Only Mohammed Mudhasir of Jammu & Kashmir and Shankar Saini of Delhi have taken four wickets in four deliveries, but Khejroliya is the third bowler in the Ranji Trophy to do so. In addition, the left-arm pacer became the 80th player in India’s domestic red-ball league and the third bowler from MP to claim a hat-trick in the Ranji Trophy.

Due to Rawat’s incredible ton, Baroda managed to mount a respectable comeback before Khejroliya’s stint. After falling behind by 322-runs, Baroda seemed to be on track to overturn MP’s advantage and resume batting thanks to Jyotsnil Singh’s 83-run innings and Rawat’s century. But when Baroda crumbled from 255/5 to 270 all out, left-armer Khejroliya—who has appeared for Delhi, RCB, and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL—had other plans.

With their third victory in as many games, MP is now leading Elite Group D.
