Shubhankar Sharma places 56th in the China Open tie

Shubhankar Sharma, a golfer from Panchkula who opened the tournament with an incredible 66, had a dismal 73 to tie for 56th place in the China Open.

Shubhankar finished 4-under 212 after starting tied-7th on the opening day of the tournament, which was shortened to 54 holes owing to bad weather canceling the third round.

The other Indian player in the field, Om Prakash, missed the cut after opening round scores of 74 and 70. In order to win his sixth victory on the DP World Tour and guarantee a berth in the US PGA Championship later this month, Adrian Otaegui overcame a five-shot deficit.

At the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in Seoul, Ajeetesh Sandhu, another local golfer, tied for 28th place. SSP Chawrasia, an Indian golfer, finished tied for 37th place after dropping four strokes in the last three holes. Chawrasia was even par after 15 holes, but she finished the week with a 4-over 75 to finish 3-over 287. Ajeetesh finished T-28 with a card of 71-71-74-69.

Three additional Indians were left off the roster: Karandeep Kochhar of Chandigarh, Shiv Kapur, and S. Chikkarangappa.
