Spain brings in Asensio and Ruiz for the final against Croatia in the Nations League

Winger Marco Asensio and defensive midfielder Fabian Ruiz were added by Spain coach Luis de la Fuente for Sunday’s Nations League final match against Croatia in Rotterdam.

The majority of the lineup that defeated Italy in Enschede on Thursday was kept together by the coach as they pursue their first trophy since winning Euro 2012, with just Mikel Merino and Rodrigo Moreno being replaced.

Despite target man Joselu’s late winner off the bench against Italy, De la Fuente continued to believe in experienced fullbacks Jordi Alba and Jesus Navas, as well as striker Alvaro Morata.

Only one change was made by Croatia from the team that defeated the Netherlands, Domagoj Vida being replaced by Martin Erlic of Sassuolo.

At Feyenoord’s De Kuip stadium, Zlatko Dalic’s team, led by Real Madrid player Luka Modric, is attempting to win a significant prize for the first time in their history.
