The match official rejects the star all-rounder’s request to beat the Mohali weather in “Umpire Ne Mana Kar Diya.”

Team India continued their winning run against Afghanistan in Twenty20 Internationals on Thursday, defeating the Afghans by six wickets at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali. India chose to bowl first and limited the visitors to 158/5. In only four overs, Axar Patel scored an impressive 2/23, while Mukesh Kumar (2/33) claimed two wickets. Shivam Dube responded with the game-winning fifty to give India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The players were affected by the Mohali weather in addition to the competitive match between the two Asian teams. It was an enormous effort for the bowlers to stay warm and bowl in the proper spots since there was fog all around and the temperature dropped as low as 7 degrees Celsius.

The best bowler for India, Axar, said that the Mohali conditions made their job challenging.

“It was really cold, and I wasn’t feeling the ball.” We were aware that it was winter and would be chilly, but my sole concern was how to exert pressure on them while I was bowling. “I concentrated on my accuracy despite the abundance of dew,” Axar said during the mid-innings performance.

The off-spinner went on to say that he had requested the umpire whether he may wear a glove on his arm that wasn’t used for bowling, but the umpire had turned him down.

The umpire said, “I had asked him if I could wear a glove in one hand, but he said no (Main ek haanth me gloves pehen ke bowling kar lun, lekin unhone mana kar diya).”

Earlier, a spirited 68-run partnership off 43 balls between the seasoned Mohammad Nabi (42) and young Azmatullah Omarzai (29) boosted Afghanistan to 158 for five after India controlled the powerplay.

But under favorable batting circumstances, the declared score was insufficient, and India easily won in 17.3 overs. After losing the first wickets in four overs, Dube, playing his first Twenty20 since the Asian Games, and Tilak Varma (26 off 22) put up a 44-run partnership off 29 balls to give the Indian innings impetus.

After Jitesh Sharma (31 off 20) and Rinku Singh (16 not out of 9) joined Dube in the middle, the team was led home by Rinku Singh.
