Toni Kroos, a Real Madrid player, issues a “Hazard” warning after the transfer of Jude Bellingham

On Wednesday, Real Madrid finalized the historic transfer of English midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, achieving their top goal for the current transfer window.

The 19-year-old’s move to Madrid is said to have started with a 100 million pound base cost, with potential add-ons later on.

Bellingham will make history as the first Englishman to play for Real Madrid after David Beckham was signed by the Los Blancos to don the fabled white jersey.

Bellingham’s transfer, which was their top priority, is only one example of Madrid’s propensity for blowing their budgets on players they really desire.

Toni Kroos, a midfielder for Madrid, said after the transfer that the capital city team would want to start with the positives but cautioned against the last significant signing they made from the Premier League for almost as much money as they paid for Bellingham—Eden Hazard.

“Transfer fee of €103m? Now we also have someone who came here only for the money and essentially put his career on hold. Everyone would agree in hindsight that the move was not a wise use of the money, Kroos remarked.

With the entrance of the bright English youngster, Kroos intended to begin the situation positively and expand from there.

“But now let’s start from the positive,” he said.

In his heyday, Hazard seemed to glide past helpless defenders at whim, earning him the reputation as one of the finest players in the world when playing for Chelsea.

The Belgian international was hired by Florentina Perez for a hefty fee, but the 32-year-old’s succession of setbacks and subpar performances could not live up to the deal’s billing and expectations, leaving the fans and management with a bitter taste.

Real Madrid came in second place behind archrival Barcelona in the most recent season, missing out on the La Liga championship, and lost to eventual champion Manchester City in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.

Following the departure of talismanic striker Karim Benzema, who went to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, the Merengues will try to put the poor season behind them as they strive to rebuild their squad ahead of the next season.
