Virat Kohli expects Indian skipper to shine in WTC Final against Australia after saying, “Rohit Sharma Got a Hundred at the Oval”

The World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will be contested at the Oval from June 7–11, will feature Team India vs. Australia. Virat Kohli anticipates Rohit Sharma to perform similarly against Australia as he did against England the previous time the two teams met at the Oval.

In an interview with the ICC, Rohit, who has entirely changed his style in red-ball cricket, received a lot of appreciation from Kohli. Rohit has a track record in white-ball cricket and, as of 2019, his switch to opening in Test matches has helped him reach the pinnacle of his red-ball career.

During the 2023 World Tennis Championship final versus Australia, Rohit Sharma will play his 50th Test. Since 2019, he has played 36 innings, averaging 52.76 with six hundreds and four fifty-sixes.

Rohit made significant progress on India’s tour to England in 2021–22 since it was his first visit to the country as an opener in a Test match. The 36-year-old scored a stunning century in the second innings, which enabled India to win the series in history.

During the 2021 tour, Rohit has amassed 368 runs in 4 Tests, including a 127-run innings that included 14 boundaries and only one six.

While praising Rohit’s desire to show himself in Test cricket after his successes in white-ball cricket as well, Kohli anticipates another outstanding performance from him.

When Virat watched Rohit Sharma bat for the first time, he saw why he was so highly regarded: “Rohit always had more time than anyone.” Virat told the ICC.

Everyone was aware of Rohit’s skill for White Ball Cricket for a long time, but Kohli claimed that Rohit’s recent performance in tests demonstrated his confidence in being able to compete at the best level in test conditions in England.

The 34-year-old went on to say that “the way he performed in tests in the last few years has shown the testimony of his temperament and opening is a tough job and he did a great job, he has performed well in all formats, enjoy watching him especially from the other end and hopefully he can repeat his performance what he did in Oval in last time.”
