According to sources, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar will decide Virat Kohli’s future in Twenty20 international matches on behalf of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Since the T20 World Cup 2022, Kohli has not participated in any T20I cricket matches, and it is unclear whether he will be selected for the next T20I series against Afghanistan. It’s said that Agarkar spoke with Kohli about the need for a different strategy in Twenty20 Internationals, which Kohli attempted, if unsuccessfully, to apply in the Afghanistan T20I series. The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that Rohit Sharma would lead the Indian squad in the Twenty20 World Cup, but he remained silent on Kohli’s prospects in the Twenty20 format.
Ajit Agarkar is expected to persuade Kohli to make way for the younger players, as the management feels that his style of play may not be appropriate for the West Indies’ slow wickets.
