West Zone and Central Zone draw, moving into the Duleep Trophy final

West Zone’s semi-final match versus Central Zone concluded in a tie, securing West Zone’s spot in the Duleep Trophy final on Saturday.

On July 12, the West Zone, captained by Priyank Panchal, will compete against the victor of the North Zone against South Zone summit match.

On Day 3, West Zone had initially collapsed, but Cheteshwar Pujara (133) and Suryakumar Yadav (52) had helped West Zone recover. Prior to the skies opening up at the KSCA Oval around tea, Central could only manage 128-4 in their run chase of 399.

Thanks to their 98-run first inning advantage, which was sufficient to guarantee them a spot in the championship game, West did not absolutely need to win.

Day 4 began with West at 292-9, but they could only add five runs.

Vivek Singh and Himanshu Mantri, the central openers, left their team in a precarious position at 17-2 when they left the pavilion early.

The innings seemed to be getting going again thanks to Dhruv Jurel and Amandeep Khare, but Dharmendra Jadeja dismissed the former as Central slid to 55-3.

Before lunch, Rinku Singh assumed the burden of scoring runs, hitting 40 in 30 balls to cause the opposing bowlers some slight concern. Jadeja in particular took the beating from Rinku, who hit him with two sixes.

But with only one guy putting on a performance, the objective was out of reach. Play ended immediately after Rinku was ultimately dismissed by Arzan Nagwaswalla.
