Women’s red-ball competition will be held by BCCI starting in March: Reports

According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organized a multi-day tournament as part of its aim to bring women’s red-ball cricket to the nation.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL), which ends on March 17, is scheduled to terminate shortly after the competition.

Teams from six zones—East, West, North, South, Central, and North East—will compete in a series of five matches when it begins on March 29 in Pune, according to a Cricbuzz report.

Two quarterfinals are scheduled to occur concurrently on March 29, 30, and 31 to kick off the event. The competition will go to two semifinals after this, which should take place simultaneously on April 5, 6, and 7. The dates of the tournament’s grand final are April 9, 10, and 11. The article also said that at the time, it was uncertain which teams would get first-round seeds in the semifinals.

This three-day event will serve as an important test to determine whether the BCCI can effectively encourage players to participate in domestic events. It will also serve as a reflection of the board’s efforts to guarantee that male players give domestic competitions like the Ranji Trophy the same importance that they do the IPL and international cricket.
