A family in Lucknow had three members shot dead over a property dispute

In a property dispute, a man in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is said to have shot and killed three members of a family on Friday.

The dead have been named as Munir Ahmed Khan, his nephew Hanzala Khan (17), and Hanzala’s mother Farheen. The tragedy happened at Mohammed Nagar in Mahilabad, Lucknow.

An altercation broke out amongst the family members when a ‘Lekhpal’ arrived to measure a plot of land.

Siraj Ahmed Khan, also known as Lallan, is accused of shooting Munir, Hanzala, and Farheen with his licensed rifle as the debate became more heated.

A large police presence has been stationed nearby to prevent any further altercations.

According to Lucknow Police Commissioner SB Shiradkar, the two parties had a land dispute that a judge had rejected. But without alerting the police, both parties had summoned the ‘Lekhpal’ to measure the land. Following the measurement, there was an argument between the two parties, and upon their return home, Lallan shot all three of them.

According to Shiradkar, the police have located the firearm that was used in the event and have taken the accused’s vehicle.

He said that further research is being done and that some of Lallan’s colleagues have been taken into custody.

Lallan has a criminal history, according to Lucknow West DCP Rahul Raj, and a Mahilabad FIR has been filed against him.
