Amit Shah heaps praise on his ally Apna Dal ahead of the 2024 local elections, saying “UP Got Rid Of Divisive Force”

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, made a compelling case for the consolidation of votes from lower castes in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Lok Sabha election on Sunday. He emphasised the partnership between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Apna Dal (Sonelal). In the state that the BJP rules, both parties in the partnership have triumphed in four elections.

Shah said that once the BJP and the Apna Dal (Sonelal) united, the “divisive forces” of the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party were entirely eliminated from the state. At a gathering in Lucknow to commemorate the passing of late Kurmi (backward caste) politician Sonelal Patel, the father of Union minister Anupriya Patel, he said these things.

“In UP, the BJP and Apna Dal (S) have jointly run in and won four elections: two Lok Sabha elections (in 2014 and 2019) and two assembly elections (in 2017 and 2022). As a consequence, SP and BSP’s ‘vighatankaari shaktiyon’ (divisive forces) have been entirely eliminated from UP, according to Shah, who was reported by news agency PTI.

Additionally, he exhorted Apna Dal members to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in securing all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may serve a third consecutive term in office in 2024.

He added that under the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) administration, which was led by the Congress, terrorists from across the border would frequently cross into India and carry out attacks on defenceless civilians. He praised PM Modi for making the country safer in the face of external threats and evolving geopolitical challenges.

“Terrorist assaults have considerably decreased in the nation today. India now uses air strikes and surgical strikes to counter any misadventure from over the border. The nation has been strengthened and made safer under Prime Minister Modi. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the nation’s renown and position abroad have increased, he said.

A number of NDA politicians, including BJP members, were present at the celebration honouring the Apna Dal founder’s birth anniversary.

Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, the deputy chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, the state president of the BJP, Ramdas Athawale, Anupriya Patel, the national president of the Republican Party of India, and Sanjay Nishad, the leader of the Nishad Party, were among the dignitaries present.
