In Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, a poll worker was suspended for snapping pictures with voters

May 22, Lucknow According to a senior polling official, a poll worker at a booth in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh has been suspended for allegedly using his phone to take selfies while taking pictures of voters on the day of voting two days ago.

Ashish Kumar Arya, an assistant teacher at Girls’ Primary School Umri in Muskara block of Hamirpur district, was assigned as a polling officer at polling station 112 of Shri Vidya Mandir Inter College in Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat, according to Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa.

Arya was suspended for improper behavior, blatantly defying the Election Commission’s (EC) directives.

The District Basic Education Officer, Hamirpur, suspended Arya and sent him to the Block Resource Center, Muskara, after realizing that he had disregarded the EC’s instructions, he added.
