Mukhtar Ansari, a UP gangster, was found guilty in the 1991 Awadesh Rai murder case
‘Bahubali’ gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who was incarcerated, was found guilty on Monday in the murder of Awadhesh Rai by the Varanasi MP MLA court.
Awadhesh Rai, a Congress politician and the brother of former MLA Ajay Rai, was fatally shot on August 3, 1991, in front of Ajay Rai’s Varanasi home. Mukhtar Ansari and others were the targets of a lawsuit that was filed in the subject.
“Mukhtar was found guilty in the 1991 murder of Awadhesh Rai. Later in the day, the court would issue its ruling, a lawyer in Varanasi informed reporters.
Ajay Rai allegedly responded to the news by saying, “This is the culmination of our many years of waiting. The whole family, including my parents, Awadhesh’s daughter, and I, maintained patience. Governments came and went as Mukhtar became stronger.
“However, we persisted. Due to the work of our attorneys, the court today convicted Mukhtar guilty of my brother’s murder, Rai continued.
