Most people believe that watermelon and mayonnaise don’t go together, but Singaporean culinary blogger Calvin Lee disagrees. He suggested enjoying a juicy watermelon with a splash of mayonnaise in one of his most recent videos. He covers a slice of watermelon with mayonnaise before biting into it in the video.

“The slightly sour and salty taste of mayonnaise blends in pretty well with the watermelon sweetness,” he says, explaining the strange combo. But amid the bulk of the criticism directed against Lee, there was also a lot of indirect support for him, with many stating that strange food pairings may sometimes taste delicious.
