A sinkhole that emerged on a residential road in Gloucester City, England has aroused the curiosity of paranormal researchers, leading to speculations about the presence of the underground chambers in the city. Locals say that the sinkhole is related to miles of haunted tunnels beneath Gloucester City, as reported by the Daily Star–media website. The photographs of the sinkhole have already gone viral. As per reports, comparable images in the city earlier showed a network of tunnels which dated back to the English Civil War and World War II. Edd Francis, of Gloucester Paranormal Investigation Services claimed that people messaged their company seeking the possibility of a link between a sinkhole and the underground tunnels. The sinkhole has emerged on the Vicarage Road in the Tredworth neighborhood. One of the explanations for the creation of the sinkhole might be the severe rainfall, as per the locals.
It is thought that there is a labyrinth existent underneath the roadways of Gloucester City. It is not the first time that such tunnels have captured the interest of the residents. The stories about the same originally came into existence in the 1970s when several builders observed unusual sounds in the subterranean route. Paul Cowmeadow of Gloucester unexplained Investigation Services reported that the builders evacuated the tunnels in the 1970s due of the unexplained events in the region. It includes the spontaneous movement of items and weird sounds. “Nobody knows what the builders saw, but it scared them so badly they refused to go back down there,” Daily Star cited Paul Cowmeadow as saying.
Gloucester Paranormal Investigation Services claims that there are a lot of secrets existing under the pavements and streets of Gloucester City. However, this specific sinkhole doesn’t connect with any paranormal presence, they noted. “It is looking far more like an old Victorian sewer has collapsed rather than the lizard people emerging from their subterranean hideouts.”, they continued. The roads department in Gloucestershire said that an emergency road closure had been put in place while the sinkhole was being repaired.
