Maharashtra Man Enters the Polling Place with His Pet Langur, and We Can’t Stop Loving It

In India, there are some amazing and fascinating things that happen at voting places when elections are held. These are very memorable occasions, whether it’s brides and grooms voting before the wedding or senior individuals carrying out their civic duties. Similar to this, something strange was seen in Wardha district, Maharashtra, during the most recent Lok Sabha elections’ second phase. The district’s voters were shocked to see a guy sloppily toting a langur over his shoulder.

Recognized as Vinod Kshirsagar, he presented his peculiar friend, “Bajrang,” to the astonished bystanders. The guy is seen approaching the voting place with his pet in a video that ANI has released, acting much like a parent carrying their child.

Bajrang seems surprisingly at ease resting on his owner’s shoulder. Subsequently, Kshirsagar related how he saved the langur from a dog and developed a unique relationship with it.

The dad said, “He was a tiny boy when he was grabbed by a dog, who then bit him three times on the head before I took him home. He has been with us for three months now. Since then, I have taken care of him; he remains with me alone and doesn’t go anywhere else. I’ll bring milk home; he remains with me, and they even go to the field together. He was with me when I cast my ballot, too.

I advised him to sit on my shoulder and not press the button. He is like my kid, like our family. Nobody is harmed by him. He exhibits more dread around others who share it; in other cases, he does not. He eats apples, grapes, and milk like a toddler.

One viewer responded to the video clip by praising the variety of India’s electoral process.

Another person made the observation that the langur’s attachment with its human was only natural, given that it was saved when it was a baby. Even yet, they believed that returning langurs to the wild could be necessary.

Someone complimented the guy for saving and tending to the langur.

Someone someone made a joke about how the guy had purchased the candidate.

The video went viral when ANI posted it on X, receiving over two million views. In the meanwhile, enormous turnouts occurred at voting places in 88 seats spread across 13 states and union territories during the second round of the Lok Sabha elections. The schedule for the third phase is May 7; the fourth, May 13; the fifth, May 20; the sixth, May 25; and the final phase, June 1.
