Watch: 15-year-old Jamui Boy Kidnapped and Forced Into Marriage

In Bihar, Pakadwa Vivah, or marriage by abduction, is a custom. It’s a straightforward custom. Choose a groom who works for the government, abduct him, and force him to tie the wedding knot with a pistol. In contrast to the groom’s eligibility under this marriage notion, a strange marriage occurred in the Bihar district of Jamui when a 15-year-old groom was abducted and coerced into marrying a female who was older than him. The police authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the marriage. The incident’s footage has now gone viral.

A child was seen in the widely shared video being surrounded by many men who reportedly had the 15-year-old kid apply vermillion on the bride. When he declined to marry the girl, he was also severely beaten. The event happened in the Khaira police station area of Gopalpur. According to the claims, the juvenile boy was abducted by Ganauri Thakur, a resident of Gopalpur, and three other individuals, who then forced the child into marriage. In relation to the event, the minor’s family members have also filed a police report at Khaira police station.

Lakshmi Thakur, a Dabil resident of Khaira Police Station, allegedly said in her application for a police report that Ganauri Thakur, a Gopalpur resident, came to her home with three of his accomplices and took her 15-year-old son Rambalak Kumar by force. Following this, they all took him to Gopalpur, where they forced him into marriage to a Kodwatand native. The situation is being looked into by the police. The application has been received, and after the inquiry, the proper action will be taken, according to Police Station Head Shashi Bhushan Kumar.

On March 27, a revenue official called Rintu Kumar was forced into marriage with a girl in the Begusarai district of Bihar. This was a similar incidence. Twelve of these instances have reportedly been reported in the last year, according to media sources; this represents a very small fraction of unreported occurrences. The State Crime Record Bureau said that from January to November 2020, 7,194 forced marriage instances, 10,925 in 2019, 10,310 in 2018, and 8,972 in 2017 were recorded in the state.
