Watch: Indian National Anthem Sung by a Georgian Choir on an IndiGo Flight

The nation’s citizens place a high value on the National Anthem. A video of a Georgian choir performing the national hymn of India while traveling from Delhi to Tbilisi was recently released on the internet. The band is said to have shot the video while on their way home from the India-Georgia cultural event in Bengaluru in January. The band’s mastery of the hymn performed in a foreign tongue astounded internet users as the video quickly went viral.

The first shot of the video shows a packed airplane. Soon, someone starts singing Jana Gana Mana, and everyone else joins in. The video has garnered multiple views and several responses in the comments area since it was uploaded. On the eve of Independence Day last year, three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej unveiled a new instrumental rendition of India’s national hymn.

The performance was performed in collaboration with the 100-member London Philharmonic Orchestra. The musician has said that the first song he learned to sing as a youngster was “Jana Gana Mana.” It is highly meaningful to me and quite precious. According to NDTV, “It’s been the most significant piece of music in my lifeā€”the first song I learned even before nursery rhymes or lullabies.” The version was recorded in London’s Abbey Road Studios by him.
