Rajeev Shukla, the leader of the Chandigarh Congress, meets with Pawan Kumar Bansal, a former MP

Rajeev Shukla, the city Congress’s chief executive, saw former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal at his home today amid resignations from office-bearers close to him, ostensibly to pacify him and inform him of the party’s present state of affairs.

Bansal, a candidate on the ticket, has refrained from endorsing the Congress candidate. He and his allies also did not show up for Tewari’s first office-bearers’ meeting.

According to sources, Bansal raised a number of issues with Shukla during their discussion. That was around an hour long. After the meeting, Shukla responded to questions from the media by saying, “Bansalji is not angry.” He is dedicated to the party and a highly senior and well-respected leader. Shukla said, “That is not for this reason (regarding the candidate for the Lok Sabha seat)” in reference to the resignations. We’ll talk to the rebels and work out a solution together.

Because of his social media remarks, rebels want Congress President HS Lucky removed from office. After Manish Tewari was announced as the Congress candidate for the city’s LS seat, Lucky shared a social media post with the caption, “Bansal ke sath hua khela,” which infuriated the leaders.

A few leaders, whose films Lucky posted, said they had not quit.

At a news conference, Naseeb Jakhar, the president of the Chandigarh INTUC, said that they had problems with Lucky alone and weren’t upset with Manish Tewari.
