‘Rose from booth laborer to MP’ is the nomination that Amit Shah from Gandhinagar submits

As he submitted his candidacy on Friday from Gandhinagar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recounted his journey from being a booth karyakarta (worker) in Gujarat to a member of parliament. Amit Shah stated that BJP heavyweights like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani representing the seat was a source of pride.

For thirty years, the seasoned BJP politician served as the MLA and later the MP for Gandhinagar.

When Shah filed his candidacy papers to the Gandhinagar collector and district election officer in the state capital at precisely 12:39 p.m., known as “Vijay Muhurat,” Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was beside him.

Speaking to the media after his candidacy file, Shah said that in the previous five years, Gandhinagar has been approved for development projects totaling Rs 22,000 crore.

“I take great delight in the fact that LK Advani, Atal ji, and Narendra Modi himself have all represented this seat as voters. I have served as this seat’s MLA and MP for thirty years. I have received so much affection from the people in this area,” he said.

TRAINER TO HOME MINISTER FROM BOOTH WORKER
Amit Shah, who was up in a Maansa hamlet in Gujarat, is well recognized for having transformed the BJP into an electoral powerhouse.

Amit Shah was motivated by the RSS at an early age. When Shah was sixteen years old in 1980, he began attending RSS Shakhas. In 1983, he joined the RSS’s student branch, the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

Shah was employed in the Naranpura neighborhood as a booth worker, putting BJP posters on walls, prior to joining the ABVP.

In 1984–85, Shah joined the BJP. His political acumen and organising abilities were recognised, leading to his appointment as Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s national treasurer shortly after.

Amit Shah’s political career took a significant turn in 1991.

In that particular year, Shah was designated as LK Advani’s election campaign manager for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Advani was pleased with Shah’s handling of the election and easily won the seat.

There has been no turning back for him since then. When Narendra Modi was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shah also developed into a reliable lieutenant of the latter.

Five years after Shah was appointed as the BJP national president in 2014, he was elevated to the position of Home Minister.
