“Dubai: Timelapse of the massive storm that caused a historic flood,” was the description posted by an X user beside the steadily recorded timelapse video. In the video, a clean sky gradually gets cloudy with black clouds, and ultimately the precipitation increases to the point that visibility is completely lost. The fact that the video becomes hazy at the conclusion of the tape due to heavy raindrops striking the camera lens indicates that the storm’s strength was very high.

The video has garnered over 3.8 million views and several comments since it was uploaded. The effect that a natural catastrophe may have and how powerless man is to stop it astonished a number of people. “This looks like a natural disaster,” said one user. “Humankind truly pales in comparison to the natural world,” said one person, while another exclaimed, “Mother Nature truly knows how to rock Dubai!” The power of nature is just astounding.

Numerous people noted that the cloud seeding procedure was to blame for this. One user said, “This is what happens when you try to play god.”

Online users also attributed Dubai’s inadequate sewage infrastructure on the floods. Someone said, “It appears like they don’t have any drains there, so all the water gathers on the concrete and asphalt roads and turns into an artificial lake.” It would have been wonderful if they could have found a useful method to gather all that valuable water. Conversely, someone made the remark, “Dubai ultimately turns into Mumbai, but never the other way around. Indian tourists should have postponed their pricey vacation in Mumbai by many months.

A user also related a personal story, writing, “Have been in Bur Dubai for many years in Dubai. Never saw a cloudburst like the one we witnessed in Mumbai. This was quite remarkable. We faced a tumultuous scenario in Fujairah. The real outburst occurred only a year or two ago. The whole emirate flooded. Vehicles were adrift in the sea.
