Bihar: RJD Leader Tejashwi Yadav’s convoy vehicle meets with an accident, leaving one dead and six injured

An accident occurred late on Monday night in Purnea, Bihar, injuring six men of the Bihar Military Police (BMP) and killing a house guard who was part of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav’s convoy.

The dead has been named by police as 50-year-old Haleem Alam, the driver of the escort car that was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

Purnea SP Upendra Nath Verma claimed that the six wounded BMP jawans, who were in the same vehicle, were taken to the government medical college in Purnea, where their condition was deemed to be out of danger.

The official said that while the airbags in the automobile lessened the severity of the collision, the passengers of the car only suffered minor injuries.

As part of the “Jan Vishwas Yatra,” Yadav was touring the state when the disaster occurred.

Social media users have shared a video of the collision extensively; in it, a car is seen yanking both cars away. Both the other automobile and the front police jeep sustained significant damage in the collision.

On his route to Katihar, Tejashwi Yadav, the opposition leader and former deputy chief minister, was traveling through the area. We had sent a car from the police lines to transport him in accordance with procedure,” SP said.

The police jeep “ended up on the wrong side of the Purnea-Katihar road and crashed into a car coming from the opposite side” as it attempted to keep up with Yadav’s automobile. The driver, home guard Mohd Halim, passed away instantly,” he said.
