Conflict Emerges in Darbhanga, Bihar, Over Hoisting of Religious Flag

The raising of a religious flag near to another community’s place of worship sparked a fight on Sunday in the town of Darbhanga in north Bihar, according to authorities.

According to them, the event took place close to Bazar Samiti Chowk.

According to them, as the conflict became more tense, people of the two groups started throwing stones at each other until the police and local authorities were able to calm things down.

District Magistrate Rajiv Raushan said, “The situation is now under control but heavy deployment of forces remains in place as a preventive measure.” Additionally, he claimed to have called a meeting of the peace committee, which is made up of representatives from both groups.

“It was suggested that no flags be flown at locations where they have never been flown before or where people may object. Additionally, so that appropriate preparations may be made, the district administration should be made aware in advance of the locations where these flags would be flown, according to Raushan.

The conflict would have been settled peacefully, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Avakash Kumar, but certain anti-social individuals from both sides started throwing stones.

“A few police officers have suffered minor wounds. The stone-throwers are being located, and they’ll face harsh punishment, the man stated.
