Police detain the PFI state secretary from East Champaran in Bihar

The state secretary of the outlawed terror group Popular Front of India (PFI) was taken into custody by the Bihar police on Saturday in the East Champaran district due to his suspected participation in anti-national activities.

The PFI member, named as Riyaz Maroof alias Bablu, was reportedly apprehended near Chakiya’s Subhash Chowk on Saturday morning after police got a tip.

Riyaz Maroof, one of the PFI’s key agents, has been detained. He was the outlawed organization’s state secretary. His questioning has begun, according to East Champaran police superintendent Kantesh Kumar Mishra.

After rushing to Subhash Chowk in plain clothes, a Chakiya police squad commanded by sub divisional police officer Satyendra Kumar Singh detained Maroof. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) issued a warrant for his arrest after dismantling the purported Phulwari Sharif terror cell.

After the module was dismantled, a charge was originally filed at the Phulwari Sharif police station in Patna on July 12, 2022. Ten days after taking over the investigation, the NIA re-registered the case.
