Apple’s Vision Pro headset, according to Meta Chief Mark Zuckerberg, is not a “magical solution” Every Detail

Meta Apple’s Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, which was shown earlier this week at WWDC 2023, doesn’t frighten CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

According to The Verge, one of Apple’s main rivals in the market, Meta, held an internal meeting where Zuckerberg reassured staff that Apple’s Vision Pro doesn’t bring anything new—which Meta had not already explored—and that there are no “kind of magical solutions that they have to any of the constraints on laws of physics.”

As expensive equipment that “makes sense for the cases that they’re going for,” Zuckerberg rejected the headset. He described it as a “design trade-off” since Apple went with a high-resolution display and powerful internals, but this resulted in the headset needing a power pack and cable connected to it.

According to reports, Meta’s mission is “fundamentally social,” and the business is working to ensure that they target the general market with accessible headsets. According to The Verge, Zuckerberg also recognized that Meta’s forthcoming Quest 3 VR headset, which will cost $499 instead of $3499 for Apple’s Vision Pro, would enable the firm to reach a larger audience.

Mark Zuckerberg may have brushed off the headset for the time being, but the Vision Pro “spatial computer” headset from Apple poses the first significant threat to Meta’s plans for the Metaverse, where the company hopes to create a “fundamentally social” world using headsets like the Meta Quest 3 and the more expensive Meta Quest Pro.
