Elon Musk Says a New Tesla Factory Would Be Interesting in India

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, said on Tuesday that the manufacturer will likely choose a site for a new facility before the end of this year.

Musk said “Absolutely” when questioned about India by Wall Street Journal reporter Thorold Barker at a gathering.

The country’s deputy minister for technology told Reuters last week that Tesla is “serious” about its aspirations to create a manufacturing plant there.

The most valuable manufacturer in the world, Tesla, revealed earlier this year that it will establish a gigafactory in Mexico.

Elon Musk, the creator of several other companies in addition to Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter and the CEO of those companies, floated the notion of establishing an educational institution on Tuesday without providing any more specifics.

He claimed to have chosen a board replacement who would be able to lead the business in the worst case situation. “Look, if something happens to me unexpectedly, this is my recommendation for taking over,” he stated. “I’ve told the board that.”

At a time when investors were worried about Musk’s preoccupation with Twitter, James Murdoch, a Tesla board member, said in court last year that Musk had selected someone as a prospective replacement to lead the electric automaker. Musk just declared a new Twitter CEO and that he will concentrate more on Tesla.
