With a little adjustment in certain places, the cost of gasoline and diesel stayed the same in all major cities. On Wednesday, gasoline and diesel prices rose sharply in certain regions while somewhat declining in others, like Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Crude oil prices have been gradually climbing on the global market for a while. WTI oil was selling for $88.31 per barrel on Wednesday, while Brent crude passed the $90 threshold and touched $91.41 per barrel.
The cost of gasoline rose in these states.
In Maharashtra, the cost of gasoline decreased by 50 paise and the cost of diesel by 46 paise. In Uttar Pradesh, the price of gasoline and diesel has also decreased by 21 paise. In Rajasthan and West Bengal, the cost of gasoline and diesel has also been drastically reduced.
These States Saw an Increase in Gas Prices
In the meantime, Jharkhand has seen a 22-paise increase in the cost of gasoline and diesel. Kerala, Goa, and Odisha have all seen a rise in the price of gasoline.

Diesel costs Rs 89.62 per liter and gasoline costs Rs 96.72 per liter in Delhi. Petrol costs Rs 106.31 a litre and diesel costs Rs 94.27 in Mumbai. Diesel costs Rs 92.76 per liter and gasoline costs Rs 106.03 in Kolkata. In Chennai, the price of gasoline is Rs 102.63 and the price of diesel is Rs 94.24 a litre.
Notably, the prices of gasoline and diesel are set daily by India’s oil marketing companies (OMCs), including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, and they are based on the global price of crude oil.
