India will be the destination in 2024 The Suzuki Swift’s results from the JNCAP crash test are shown below

Japan NCAP has awarded the fourth-generation Suzuki Swift a 4-star safety rating. This occurs just a few weeks before the new Swift is introduced to the Indian market. One of Maruti Suzuki’s key debuts in India this year is the Swift, which will be followed later in the year by the next-generation Dzire small sedan.

In safety assessments, the new Swift has received a score of 177.8 out of 197, with preventative safety receiving the best ratings.

The new Swift scored a ‘A’ on preventative safety, scoring 88.7 out of 89 points. After passing through many evaluations, including a complete frontal test at 55 kph, a frontal-offset test at 64 kph, side impact, and rear-end collision tests at 55 kph, it received an occupant protection score of 81.1 out of 100 in crash testing.

Pedestrian safety was also included in the JNCAP review. The Swift received full marks for pedestrian leg protection and its emergency call system, while it received 2.7 out of 4 for pedestrian head protection and 2.8 out of 3.6 for the passenger seat belt reminder. ADAS technology, which comes with features like adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane departure assist and warning, high-beam assist, and much more, is also available on the top-spec Swift sold in Japan.

With a fresh look, an entirely new engine, and a redesigned interior with more capabilities, the fourth-generation Swift is basically a much upgraded version of the third-generation platform. The 2017 Swift has a redesigned grille with hefty black surrounds, a redesigned front bumper, and redesigned smoked LED headlights with DRLs. The updated fog light housing with a splitter is located below it.

The clamshell bonnet is much shallower, and the rear door handles are once again on the standard placement rather than on the C-pillar at the sides. It has a revised tailgate and a redesigned bumper with a skid plate below at the back. Additional characteristics include LED taillights with C-shaped DRLs and reflectors below, as well as an integrated rear spoiler with a stop lamp. The blacked-out pillars, roofs, and ORVMs are some more striking features. Across the door panels, there are clearly noticeable character lines.

Moving inside, the new Swift’s interior draws design cues from Fronx and Baleno. A floating infotainment system with svelte AC vents and HVAC controls below is part of the updated dashboard design. Additional anticipated features include linked auto technology, steering-mounted controls, automated temperature control, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and other convenience features.

The new Swift’s engine is where the most changes have been made. The current K12 four-cylinder engine will be replaced with a brand-new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine powering the new Swift. Although exact specs are yet unknown, it should have more over 85 horsepower and 110 nm of torque. Options for the gearbox will include an AMT or a 5-speed manual.
