ITC joins the CDP Water “A” list and earns two more platinum level AWS certifications

NEW DELHI: The multi-business giant ITC Limited has shown its commitment to sustainable practices by accomplishing noteworthy water stewardship milestones. The esteemed Platinum-Level AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship) Certification has been bestowed on two of its cutting-edge facilities in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, signifying a noteworthy breakthrough in international water management standards.

With this accomplishment, ITC’s list of honours grows to four platinum-level AWS-certified facilities, solidifying its position as the industry leader in water stewardship initiatives in India.
The AWS certifications obtained by the Ranjangaon facilities consolidate ITC’s previous achievements, most notably the Platinum-Level AWS Certification granted to its Foods Unit in Malur in 2022, which made history as Asia’s first food processing plant to get such accreditation. Furthermore, ITC’s Paperboards Unit in Kovai created history by being the first paper mill in the world to get AWS certification as well as the first site in India.
S. Sivakumar, Group Head, Agri, Sustainability, and Social Investment Programmes, ITC Ltd., commented on the achievement, saying, “ITC has consistently fortified its comprehensive water stewardship initiatives.” We are dedicated to keeping up this pace and working towards obtaining the highest worldwide certification for all of our sites by 2035, regardless of where the danger of a water shortage may eventually materialise. Currently, four ITC facilities have received the platinum rating under the prestigious AWS framework.
Apart from obtaining the AWS Certification, ITC also received an outstanding Leadership Level ‘A’ score for Water Security from CDP, a well-known NGO focused on global environmental challenges. This accreditation highlights ITC’s leadership in the manufacturing industry and puts it above the Asia-Pacific regional average. It positions ITC among the select few enterprises in India to obtain the ‘A’ List designation in ‘CDP Water’.
