Leaked Renders Provide a Sneak peek at the potential design of Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Air

Ming-Chi Kuo made a hint last year about the release of a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air model in 2024. The revised 10.9-inch variant may be introduced with this one. 91Mobiles has now released alleged computer-aided design (CAD) renderings of the iPad Air 12.9-inch model, providing an image of its design.

Though it is larger, the new iPad has a similar appearance to the existing device. With the Touch ID sensor at the top of the iPad, it may have the same button locations. But the camera module has undergone a little facelift, sporting a border around the lens that is evocative of the most current iPhone models.

This follows Apple’s decision to forego updating any of the iPad models from the previous year, including the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and iPad mini series. Several experts, including Mark Gurman of Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo, predict that the corporation will completely restructure its roster this year.

When Apple chooses to release the updated iPad Air model with the Apple M2 processor is still up in the air. A launch may not be as far off as you would have anticipated, as Ming-Chi Kuo said last year that the same might go into commercial production in Q1 2024. The Apple M2 chipset, which will power the next 10.9-inch model, is a generational upgrade over the Apple M1 chipset used in the current model.

He said that, unlike the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, this 12.9-inch iPad model would not have the speculated tiny LED display technology; instead, it will have an LCD display. Even so, since it would employ an Oxide backplate—which is also found in the iPad Pro 12.9-inch—instead of an a-Si backplate, it would still seem more attractive than the 10.9-inch variant.
