Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, reports a four-fold increase in WhatsApp Business users over the last three years

According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday, Meta Platforms’ WhatsApp Business application currently serves more than 200 million users on its network, a four-fold increase from roughly three years ago.

As the economy becomes more unstable and Meta’s primary advertising business suffers, its user base grows as it turns its attention to the creation of corporate messages.

According to Meta, tests of capabilities that will let small companies to run advertising that link to the messaging platform without requiring a Facebook account will soon start.

For a price, small and medium-sized companies would be able to send their clients customized communications like updates on a holiday sale and appointment reminders.

As CEO Zuckerberg views corporate messaging as the company’s next pillar, Meta has been striving to monetise its messaging products, WhatsApp and Messenger.

In related news, Meta Platforms unveiled Monday the subscription-based Meta Quest+ service for its virtual reality (VR) headsets in an effort to influence a still-emerging but highly-invested sector.

In a livestream on the social media platform Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg said that starting on Monday, the Meta Quest+ membership for Quest 2, Pro, and shortly Quest 3 would be available for $7.99 per month, or $59.99 yearly.

Since its major investments on the metaverse failed to pay off, Meta lowered the price of their headsets in March.

According to Meta’s website, the company’s flagship VR headset, the Meta Quest Pro, is now available for $999.99, down from its original launch price of $1,499.99, while the Quest 2 is being offered for $299.99.
