Mexico-based L&T produces hydrotreating reactors for refineries

The hydrotreating reactor that Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a multinational engineering and construction firm, produced for the Antonio Dovali Jaime Refinery in Salina Cruz, Mexico, was announced on Tuesday.

From the company’s A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, the reactor has been sent to Mexico.

“The hydrotreating reactor, which uses critical Cr-Mo-V metallurgy, is based on a technology developed by Axens, a French company.” In a record-breaking 15 months, it has been produced at the Hazira Complex,” a release said.

The reactor removes contaminants like nitrogen and sulfur compounds from hydrocarbon streams via the hydrotreating process, a catalytic conversion used in petroleum refining, among other processes.

Larsen & Toubro, an Indian multinational corporation valued at USD 23 billion, is involved in engineering, procurement, and construction projects as well as high-tech manufacturing and services. It is active in more than 50 nations globally.
