OYO claims that because of claims of flesh trading, its contract with the Noida hotel was canceled

OYO, a hospitality technology business, said on Tuesday that it has ended its agreement with the Sheetla Hotel in Noida because of claims that the location was being used for the sale of flesh.

In order to guarantee responsibility, OYO said that it also intends to take legal action against the hotel and any parties implicated.

In a statement, OYO said that the police, working with the anti-human trafficking unit, had raided the hotel in Behlolpur, Noida, earlier this month, and arrested a number of individuals for their roles in operating a flesh trade ring out of the establishment.

Seven people were taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in the flesh trade during a raid at the Sheetla Hotel on April 10, according to a statement from the Noida Police.

During the operation, the police also managed to free three youngsters and four women from the motel.

“The claims compelled OYO to carry out an exhaustive inquiry into the issue. OYO discovered, after giving the claims some thought, that the hotel has been doing business with OYO inconsistently even before the accusations surfaced,” the firm said.

But OYO has made the decision to end its agreement with the hotel. This choice is in line with OYO’s continuous efforts to encourage secure and safe guest experiences,” the statement said.

In addition, OYO expressed gratitude to individuals who exposed the claims and urged anybody with knowledge of such occurrences to come forward.

“OYO has a zero-tolerance policy for unethical or unlawful behavior on its hotel grounds. OYO’s North India Head Pawas Kumar said, “We are already collaborating closely with Noida police to provide safe and secure hospitality in the city.

“In order to stop these kinds of things from happening again, we are putting improved monitoring and auditing processes in place. In order to provide a secure atmosphere for our visitors, we are still dedicated to collaborating closely with local law enforcement organizations and communities,” he said.

In collaboration with law enforcement, the firm initiated a nationwide initiative to promote safe and secure hospitality in November 2023.

As part of the program, it has held joint police seminars in a number of cities, including Bangalore, Noida, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Meerut, and Lucknow. These seminars have gathered important players from the hospitality sector, law enforcement, and OYO’s hotel partners.
