Samsung ordered to reimburse the consumer Rs. 25k for selling air conditioners without Wi-Fi

Samsung has been ordered by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Hyderabad II, to reimburse a customer Rs 25,000 for purchasing an air conditioner that did not have the characteristics that were advertised.

Stanam Sai Raghu Ram, the complainant, claims that when he paid Rs 44,490 for the split-window air conditioner, he was told that it had built-in Wi-Fi and a five-year guarantee. Modern air conditioners may be linked from a distance utilizing mobile apps thanks to the Wi-Fi feature.

When Ram purchased the air conditioner, he claimed that he was informed by corporate reps that the model included Wi-Fi. To his dismay, the model he purchased was devoid of the technology. The customer also claimed that the salesman had deceived him into believing that the air conditioner was covered by a five-year guarantee.

He brought up the matter with the corporation via several emails and phone conversations, but to little effect. He said that Samsung suddenly ended the case without offering a suitable settlement.

Samsung rejected the case, claiming in its defense that there had been no manufacturing flaws with the device. The Commission emphasized to it that if the features that were promised didn’t materialize, the whole point of customers purchasing the goods was negated.

It was observed that the maker has the obligation of making up for any damage a client may suffer as a result of a faulty product that was created or sold, or from a deficit in service, by citing the concept of Caveat Venidtor, which means “Let the seller beware.”

Samsung was directed by the commission to pay Rs 25,000 within 45 days starting on March 28.
