Seven bids are revealed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries for the production of PLI Advanced Chemistry Cells

Seven bidders have filed proposals under the worldwide contract for the re-bidding of Production Linked Incentives (PLI) for the production of 10 GWh Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC), according to the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) of India.

The PLI ACC program encourages the production of advanced Chemistry Cells in India that are independent of technology.

The ministry released a statement stating that the following bidders have proposed a combined capacity of 70 GWh: ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Limited, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Private Limited, Anvi Power Industries Private Limited, JSW Neo Energy Limited, Reliance Industries Limited, Lucas TVS Limited, and Waaree Energies Limited.

On February 12, 2024, a pre-bid meeting was held for this tender, providing an opportunity for interested parties to interact and ask any questions they may have about the bidding procedure. Applications must be submitted by April 22, 2024, using the CPP site. On April 23, 2024, the technical bids were launched.

The National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage’s technology-neutral PLI Scheme was authorized by the Cabinet in May 2021.

With an expenditure of Rs. 18,100 crore, the program sought to reach a production capacity of fifty (50) gigawatt hours (GWh) of ACC.

The first round of the ACC PLI bidding ended in March 2022 with the permission of the Cabinet, and three beneficiary enterprises were given a combined capacity of thirty (30) gigawatt hours (GWh). In July 2022, the program agreement was signed with the chosen recipient businesses.

On January 24, 2024, the ministry issued a Request for Proposal (RfP) to choose and shortlist bidders under the PLI Scheme titled “National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage,” building on the success of the first phase.

With a maximum financial commitment of Rs. 3,620 crore, the goal was to support the creation of ACC production Units with a total production capacity of 10 Giga Watt Hour (GWh).
