Tesla suspends its collaboration with Ramkrishna Forgings

After founder and CEO Elon Musk had to postpone his trip to India, where he was supposed to make an announcement about the company’s entrance into the Indian market, US-based electric automaker Tesla decided to pause its collaboration with Kolkata-based Ramkrishna Forgings.

According to a regulatory filing by Ramkrishna Forgings, “Further to our earlier press release dated April 18, 2024, it is hereby notified that USA’s Largest Electric Passenger Vehicle manufacturer has vide a subsequent communication put on hold its earlier approval in relation to supply of power train components.”

The biggest electric passenger car manufacturer in the US has approved the delivery of powertrain components, according to a statement made by the Kolkata-based business on Thursday. Although Ramkrishna left out the name of the carmaker in his statement, insiders verified that it was Tesla. The order was around Rs 400 crore in value. According to Ramkrishna, it was a significant turning point in the company’s development of innovative electric transportation solutions. It had said that receiving permission opens up a plethora of exciting new opportunities in addition to marking its debut in the US EV market.

Days before Musk was supposed to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India, the news was made. The business owner postponed it on Saturday. In a post on X on Saturday, Musk wrote, “Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do look forward to visiting later this year.”
