The Maharashtra Government Requests World Bank Support for Infrastructure and Capacity Improvement

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, asked the World Bank for help on Sunday with capacity development and infrastructural improvement.

At a meeting with the World Bank’s executive directors held in this city, Shinde remarked that the organization was more than simply a source of funding for poor nations.

The chief minister said that a partnership with WB would assist raise the quality of life for people in Maharashtra, which has the most trained workforce and cutting-edge infrastructure.

 

“We are working on improving green technology, disaster management, health services, and port infrastructure facilities,” he said.

 

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, who was present at the meeting, said that the administration intended to join rivers to prevent drought in Maharashtra.

 

“The government is planning to divert water from rivers flowing westward to the Godavari Valley and linking rivers in Vidarbha will help in removing drought,” he said.

 

The state administration also requested help from the World Bank to ease traffic in Mumbai, create renewable energy, enhance services for citizens in each district, and spur economic growth.
