The Mario voice actor Charles Martinet retires and will no longer appear in Super Mario Bros

Mario’s voice will no longer be provided by Charles Martinet, a former employee of Nintendo. Notably, Martinet has been lending his voice to Mario games since 1994, and the character has grown to be identified with his voice.

Due to its family-friendly appeal and the enduring popularity of Nintendo’s famous series, Super Mario Bros. is a name that is recognized in most households. Mario, the Italian plumber, is one of the factors that have contributed to Nintendo’s success.

People have come to like his distinct personality and Charles Martinet’s voice acting. The majority of individuals, young and old, would instantly identify the recognizable “It’s a me, Mario!” phrase.

In actuality, Martinet won’t be lending his voice to Mario or Luigi in the next Super Mario Bros. Wonder game for the Nintendo Switch. A run that began with Mario Teaches Typing in 1994—nearly three decades ago—ends with this episode.

Despite not disclosing the reason for Martinet’s resignation, Nintendo has indicated that he would continue to serve as a “Mario ambassador” and be in charge of marketing Mario internationally.

Nintendo added that working with Charles over the course of so many years to help bring Mario to life has been an honor.

Martinet has also provided the voices for Mario’s sibling Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi throughout the course of his lengthy career in addition to that of Mario.
