The new city automobile is the MG Comet

Since its debut a year ago, MG’s little electric vehicle, the Comet, has created quite a stir in the Indian auto industry. It is a useful option for city commuters due to its small size, two doors, and four seats. After using it in Kochi for more than a month, my early thoughts were favorable, and I’m even happier with it now. Let’s examine the qualities that make the Comet ideal for everyday urban driving:

Create

Despite its small size, the Comet’s internal space and broad doors are testaments to its optimized design for urban usage. Its step-through interior makes it simple to reach the front and rear seats, which makes it perfect for city journeys for single drivers.

Strength

With a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Comet is supposed to have a 230 km range on a full charge; however, actual driving only produced 190–200 km of range. Particularly in urban areas, the electric motor’s 42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque provide smooth acceleration. Convenience is further increased by the quick charging options, which cut the charging time to only 2.5 hours for a full charge.

Operating

With an automated transmission system and environmentally friendly driving modes that maximize economy and range, the Comet provides a pleasant driving experience. Public charging stations are possible with enough forethought, yet infrastructure for charging still has to be taken into account.

Additional characteristics

With its short turning radius and practical features like a rear camera and sensors for easy parking, the Comet is very maneuverable. It is reasonably priced, ranging from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 9.24 lakh (ex-showroom), and provides good value for the money.

Conclusion

The light-colored cabin of the Comet is prone to stains, and it lacks a glove box, despite its many positive aspects. Because of the broad doors, it might be a little difficult for front-seat passengers to access the seat belt.

But the Comet’s overall appeal as a fun electric city vehicle outweighs these problems. The MG Comet is a great alternative for city commuters looking for an economical, effective, and useful electric car.
