The new Plus strategy from Qualcomm targets AMD, Apple, and Intel

With the release of the Snapdragon X Plus CPU, Qualcomm has increased the range of chips available in its Snapdragon X Series. Additionally, the business has introduced three twelve-core Snapdragon X Elite processors to rival Apple’s M3 silicon as well as other chip manufacturers like AMD and Intel.

Features and characteristics of the Snapdragon X Plus
The Snapdragon X Plus is equipped with Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU, a specially designed integrated processor that, according to the manufacturer, uses up to 54% less power and offers up to 37% quicker CPU performance than rivals.

The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (a 45 TOPS NPU), which powers the AI chip for PCs, is said to be the fastest laptop NPU in the world. It is designed to fulfill the needs of on-device AI-driven apps.

The platforms in the Snapdragon X Series provide cutting-edge experiences and are poised to completely transform the PC market. In this era of fast research and deployment, the Snapdragon X Plus will power AI-Supercharged PCs that allow even more people to succeed as radical new AI experiences emerge, according to Kedar Kondap, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technologies’ computing and gaming division.
Qualcomm introduces enhanced Snapdragon X Elite processors.
Three twelve-core Snapdragon X Elite processors with a maximum multithreaded frequency of 3.8GHz and a maximum 4.6 TFLOP iGPU are being released by Qualcomm in addition to the Snapdragon X Plus.
With the exception of the top two Snapdragon X Elite chips, which have Dual-Core Boost (up to 4.2GHz), the new processors are identical to the Snapdragon X Plus in terms of NPU and memory support. In order to maximize processing power, users may do this by adjusting the processor frequency. The Verge reports that Qualcomm asserts that its Snapdragon X Elite CPU will outperform chips from AMD, Apple, and Intel.
According to the business, PCs with Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite CPUs should start shipping from reputable international OEMs in the middle of 2024.
