Third public beta of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 released by Apple: features, enrollment details, and more

The third public beta of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 upgrades has been made available by Apple, allowing non-developers to test the future software before it is formally published. This most recent beta is the follow-up to Apple’s first developer beta, which was released a week ago along with a second beta for public beta testers.

Public beta testers may use the Settings app on their devices to access the iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 betas. They can also pick the Software Update section, touch “Beta Updates,” then turn on the iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 Public Beta option. To get access to these beta versions, it’s crucial to register on Apple’s beta testing website.
iOS 17.5 mostly focuses on improvements inside the European Union, with very few new features that are visible to the outside world. Interestingly, EU app makers may now allow users to download their iPhone applications straight from their websites, saving them from having to via the App Store.

This functionality is subject to some requirements, however, such as having an app with over a million initial installations on iOS in the EU in the previous year and being a member of the Apple Developer Program for at least two years in a row. Developers must also post clear data gathering rules and follow Apple’s notarization procedure.
It’s crucial to remember that not all users may use this service, which is restricted to the European Union under the Digital Markets Act.

Apart from the modifications aimed at the European Union, iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 also provide enhancements to mobile device management. Based on code changes seen in the software, there are also hints of upcoming Battery Health features for new iPads and notifications for third-party item trackers.
