To join the AI gold rush, Intel announces Core Ultra and Xeon Processors for PCs and Servers

The most anticipated new product from Intel might be the Gaudi 3, the newest model in a series of devices that rivals Nvidia Corp.’s market-leading H100. Known as AI accelerators, these chips assist businesses in creating chatbots and other quickly gaining traction. Gaudi 3 is expected to come in 2024, and according to Intel, it will perform better than the H100.

AMD is also catching up to Nvidia in terms of AI accelerators. The MI300, that product’s variant, will be released the following year. At an event last week, AMD presented the processor and said that, in the next four years, the market for AI accelerators may reach a value of over $400 billion, or nearly Rs. 33,23,060 crore.

By moving more AI processing from data centers to devices, Intel hopes to get the upper hand. Just that, the new Ultra Core CPUs from manufacturers like Dell Technologies and Samsung Electronics would be available in around 230 PC models. beginning on Thursday, according to Intel.

Intel may benefit from another change. “A small number of people develop models, but a large number of people use them,” Gelsinger said to the crowd at a New York event. According to him, the exorbitant expense of data centers means that AI will be handled by PCs and other devices. According to him, sending data via the internet also reduces how responsive computers are.

However, using AI software on a laptop may rapidly deplete its battery life. In order to reduce that danger, Intel claims that the new Core components would operate more effectively and, in their most expensive configuration, last more than 10 hours even while doing the most taxing activities.

According to the business, Intel’s Xeon series will get new parts that improve its performance by 42% over the previous generation when it comes to handling tasks connected to AI. The previous version was released in January 2023.

According to Intel, the component’s overall performance per watt of power will be 36% greater. As part of Intel’s effort to accelerate product launches, the firm also said that even more new Xeon line variants would be available in the first half of 2019.

By the end of the decade, Gelsinger thinks the semiconductor business will rise to a trillion dollars in sales, and he wants to turn around the firm and bring it back to prominence. He told the crowd on Thursday that his strategy for making a comeback is working.
