Update on the Stock Market Holiday: Is Today, Monday, January 22, Trading Session Open?

On Monday, January 22, the NSE and BSE stock exchanges will observe a trading holiday. The Maharashtra government has declared a holiday in honor of the dedication of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The government of Maharashtra has proclaimed January 22nd as a public holiday. Therefore, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a new circular on Friday that there would be no dealings or settlements in foreign currency, money markets, rupee interest rate derivatives, or primary and secondary government securities on that day.

The RBI had already said that on January 22, the money markets will be closed.

Public sector banks, insurance providers, financial institutions, and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) throughout the nation would all be closed for half a day on the same day.

A directive for the closure of central government facilities for half a day on January 22 has also been issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
