Videos advocating these medications are being banned on Tiktok

TikTok is enforcing more rules on weight loss material on their network. Starting next month, the app will drastically restrict the content that users may see linked to weight reduction, as per the most recent updates to community rules.

The new rules, which are expected to take effect on May 17, prohibit anything that discusses “extreme” diets, abusing prescription drugs for weight reduction, and other related topics.
This action is being taken at a time when TikTok is becoming a discussion board for drugs used to control weight.

People use the site to find out more information regarding medications such as Zepbound (by Eli Lilly & Co.), Wegovy (by Novo Nordisk A/S), and Ozempic.
Prohibit the promotion of diet aids. This is the main goal of the new Tiktok guidelines.

* Limit the material that children may access. This includes seeing, disseminating, or endorsing materials that highlight, explain, or promote potentially dangerous weight-management techniques, such as using prescription drugs to reduce weight. Avoid using “before-and-after” pictures to show off the physical changes brought on by weight reduction.
A burgeoning community seeking support and guidance for these often disregarded disorders is unjustly targeted by these wide limitations, according to content producers, some of whom have created substantial followings by disseminating information about these drugs for diabetes and obesity.
Social media sites have come under fire for fostering an epidemic of unchecked weight-loss material, particularly TikTok. This is just one illustration of the larger concern over how algorithms encourage the dissemination of false information about health and possibly hazardous material to younger people.
TikTok has made attempts in the past to limit the material related to weight-reduction drugs. Users bemoan, however, the uneven application of earlier restrictions and the ambiguity of the updated rules about permitted material.
