Want To Reach Truly Ambitious Trade Agreement With India, Declares UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

In the grounds of 10 Downing Street, on Wednesday evening, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held a special event to honour UK-India Week 2023 and reaffirmed his commitment to a “truly ambitious” free trade agreement (FTA) with India.

The boxing champion Mary Kom, artists Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain, and Bollywood starlet Sonam Kapoor were among the famous people with whom the 43-year-old British Indian leader spoke during what he called the beginning of an Indian summer in the UK.

“Narendra Modiji, the prime minister, and I both see tremendous promise in this. Sunak, who was present at the garden party with his wife Akshata Murty and mother-in-law Sudha Murty, said, “We’re making great progress together on the 2030 roadmap and we want to strike a truly ambitious trade deal that benefits both our nations, bringing tremendous opportunities to businesses and consumers, both in India and here at home.

“It’s not just UK-India Week, but a whole Indian summer,” he said.

Ministers, corporate executives, and decision-makers gather for the sixth annual UK-India Week, organised by the India Global Forum (IGF), which continues through Friday, to discuss the main areas of emphasis for the two-way relationship.

IGF founder Manoj Ladwa stated, “We are all from such different origins, experiences, and adventures, but what binds us is our enthusiasm and devotion to developing what I define as the winning alliance between the UK and India.
