Aamir Khan accuses Congress of using a deepfake video in a political campaign, filing a formal complaint

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is protesting a political party’s fraudulent commercial.

The actor has reported a false Congress advertising with the Mumbai Police. The aforementioned advertising, which challenges the governing BJP for their pledge to deposit Rs 15 lakh into each citizen’s account, has a deepfake video of the Bollywood actor made by artificial intelligence (AI).

This purportedly artificial intelligence (AI)-produced deepfake movie features a scene from an episode of the Aamir Khan-hosted television program “Satyamev Jayate,” which aired ten years ago.

Aamir Khan’s official representative has released a statement stating that the actor has reported the incident to the authorities and started legal proceedings.

“We want to clarify that throughout his 35-year career, Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party,” the official said. Throughout several previous elections, he has committed his efforts to increasing public knowledge via Election Commission public awareness programs. The latest viral video that purports to show Khan endorsing a certain political party worries us.

“He would like to clarify that this is a fake video and totally untrue,” the spokesman said. He has filed an official complaint with the Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Cell and reported the situation to other relevant authorities. Khan would want to encourage every Indian to participate actively in our democratic process by casting a ballot.”
