After five years of Kalank, Karan Johar said, “It Will Always Be Special To Me.”

Kalank was a historical drama that took us back to the golden age in 2019. With Aditya Roy Kapur, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt in the key parts, the movie was a visual extravaganza from beginning to end. Its lavish staging, elaborate costumes, and soul-stirring music succeeded in making an effect on the audience that lasted. Today is Kalank’s fifth anniversary, and Karan Johar used Instagram to reflect on the making of the movie

Karan re-posted the Dharma Movies clip, which included some of the movie’s greatest moments along with the title tune, on his Instagram story. “Five years to a film that will always be special to me in so many ways!” wrote Karan beside the video. Proud of the blood, sweat, and tears Abhishek shed to tell the tale. Certain movies transcend their outcomes; they endure by their essence, music, and images! For us at Dharma, Kalank will always be that movie!

In spite of its conflicting reviews upon debut, Kalank brought in ₹146.31 crore at the global box office. The production design, costumes, acting, music, and photography all received accolades for the movie. Nine nominations in all for the 65th Filmfare Awards were received by the movie. For her work in a supporting role, Madhuri Dixit was awarded Best Supporting Actress, while Pritam was named Best Music Director.

1946 serves as the setting for this Abhishek Varman-directed picture, which is produced by Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It explores the lives of six intriguing individuals whose romantic ambitions entwine but are ultimately split by the sharp separation between Husnabad, a village in North India, and its two worlds.

In the movie, Alia Bhatt captivated viewers with her depiction of Roop Chaudhary, while Varun Dhawan brought Balraj Chaudhary (played by Sanjay Dutt)’s illegitimate son Zafar to life. Dev Chaudhary, the half-brother of Zafar and the son of Balraj, was portrayed by Aditya Roy Kapur. However, the plot was made more interesting by Sonakshi Sinha’s depiction of Satya Chaudhary, Dev’s previous wife and Roop’s friend. Madhuri Dixit, Kunal Kemmu, and Kiara Advani all had notable parts in the movie.

In terms of his career, Karan Johar is now working on the post-production of Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, a forthcoming sports drama film that has Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in the key parts. The movie will now debut on May 31 instead of April 19, as originally planned.
